Abi Cochran

Abi CochranAbi designs and makes jewellery in her small workshop in Fulbourn just outside Cambridge.

She works in silver and gold. In the last few months she’s been working more with textures and making pieces inspired by landscape photography. The recurring theme has been coastlines and rivers - She layers smoothly curving wires over textured silver then embellishes with gemstones, gold leaf and granulation to create abstracted miniature landscapes.

Many of her works are one-offs, custom made for special abi 2012 pink-concentric-circles-(2).jpgoccasions; she also uses fine silver clay to make duplicates. Gemstones, enamel and resin are often included in her work to add colour.

She learnt silversmithing from her grandmother Casty Cobb who taught many people in Cambridge.  This year her mother Clarissa will be showing textiles and prints at Cambridge Christmas too.

She sells online through Etsy throughout the year.
