Jonathan Deer

Jonathan's early interest in jewellery came about from living in Colombia during his twenties and thirties. He was surrounded by amazing pre-Colombian artefacts and he discovered, and became friends with, talented local jewellery designers and artisans.

He is self-taught and this has allowed him to gain a different perspective on design and constantly makes him push his own boundaries.

Jonathan is now a full time jeweller after working to hone his craft over the last five years, working out of his studio in Ely.

His approach and philosophy is to produce jewellery that makes the wearer feel special, with exciting and bold design that looks to modern influences and draws on both traditional and cutting edge technologies. The key to this is for him to strive to constantly design and make jewellery that is wearable, stylish and simple with a modern twist to stand out.

All his work is carefully crafted to the highest standard in silver and gold allowing him to offer jewellery that has exact finishing and that is easy-to-wear but looks striking on any occasion.

His work is hallmarked at the Birmingham Assay Office and comes elegantly packaged. He is a member of the British Jeweller's Association (BJA), the Association for Contemporary Jewellery (ACJ) and also an active member of Cambridge Open Studios, showcasing his work every July at his studio in Ely.
