Heather Stowell

Heather Stowell's latest body of work is inspired by her love of old buttons, combined with her interest in contemporary design and the new from old ethic.

Carefully selected old buttons, made from materials such as mother of pearl, glass or enamel are transformed into eye-catching, contemporary jewellery. The buttons are set by hand in sterling silver, and are a lovely way to preserve the fine workmanship in old buttons.

All pieces are unique. Heather can work to commission, setting clients ‘own’ buttons, whether to make a special family piece, or keep sake, or to create a truly personal gift for a birthday, christening or wedding.

The ‘melted expanding bangle’ range is her most well known. The bangles’ are individually made with a ‘worn in’ look and are expandable to fit a wide variety of wrists. A large collection of earrings, necklaces, rings and cufflinks have also been designed to complement the bracelet range.

All the jewellery hallmarks are hand stamped by the city of London assay office. From June 2015 Heather will be able to apply the Queens Diamond Jubilee mark on request.

Since graduating from  Sir John Cass, Guildhall, University of London, with a  BA Hons Degree in 1989 Heather has exhibited nationally ever since.  Come along and meet her at her first Cambridge Showcase event on Monday 23 November 2015.
